Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Amoxtli: Markdown Viewer ("Amoxtli") is a read-only Markdown viewer for Mac. Amoxtli does not collect, store on any server, sell, or share your personal data. It has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking, and its developer receives nothing from your use of the app.
Your documents
The files and folders you open are read on your Mac and are never sent to the developer. Amoxtli never changes them.
Data kept on your Mac
Amoxtli keeps a few items in its private storage on your Mac so that it works as expected:
- The sites you chose to always trust when opening links
- Your choice not to be asked again about making Amoxtli the default viewer
- Window state and access permissions for the folders you opened, so that those windows can be restored
- Images from documents, which the system may keep in a temporary cache
You can clear the trusted sites with "Forget Trusted Sites" in the app menu. Uninstalling the app and removing its data deletes the rest.
Connections to other services
Amoxtli only connects to the internet to load remote images that appear in the documents you open. When that happens, your Mac contacts the server hosting the image, which can see information such as your IP address and when the request was made. Those servers are chosen by each document's author and are not controlled by the developer.
Links open in your browser or another app only when you choose to open them. Those sites and apps have their own privacy policies.
App distribution
If you download Amoxtli from the Mac App Store, GitHub, or Homebrew, those services may process data under their own privacy policies. The developer may see aggregate statistics that Apple provides, such as download counts and, if you agreed to share them with developers, crash reports.
Children
Amoxtli does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
